PERAMBALUR, OCT. 13 . The District Revenue Officer, V. Krishnamurthy, has urged the village panchayats to fine those defile public hygiene. Presiding over the mass contact day programme at Kolakkanattam near Kunnam today, he said the administration had planned to achieve cent per cent sanitation in all villages in the district in coordination with the local bodies. Programmes like the `clean village concept' was introduced with a special focus on construction of individual household toilets. Referring to the fine of Rs. 20 introduced recently by the Padalur village panchayat on those found resorting to nature's call at public places, he asked the village panchyats to follow suit to ensure public hygiene. He sought the cooperation of the villagers to implement the `Our Village' concept, which would provide basic facilities in rural pockets. He distributed over 700 saplings to seven persons under the `Wasteland development programme,' to be implemented in the village. He gave away house site pattas to 16 persons. The Project Officer, District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), L. Raja, said that steps would be taken to provide facilities like road, library, burial ground and compound wall to the local school.
