LUCKNOW, OCT. 13. Three persons were killed in poll-related violence in Uttar Pradesh today. Two persons, including a BSP supporter, were killed when supporters of rival candidates opened fire in the Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency this morning following an altercation near a polling station, a Home Department spokesman told presspersons here. In the Atrauli Assembly constituency in Aligarh district, polling had to be suspended in the Narupura polling station following tension over the killing of a person in firing between two groups over poll preparations, he said. Repolling would be held in the polling station on October 15.
EVMs damaged
Reports from Karchchna said that an aged voter died of heart failure at a polling station after a heated exchange. There were reports of electronic voting machines being damaged in Mainpuri, Madiyahon and Siddhaur. The Congress and the BJP charged the SP with "blatant misuse" of official machinery and rigging and demanded repolling in several booths. PTI
