KARIMNAGAR, OCT. 13. The Zilla Parishad Chairman, K.V. Rajeshwara Rao, on Wednesday garnered the support of ZPTC members of all parties at the ZP general body meeting and foiled the attempt by TRS members to move a no-confidence motion against him. Contrary to expectations, ZPTC members attended the meeting in large numbers amid speculation about a possible no-confidence motion against Mr. Rajeshwara Rao, who was recently expelled from the TRS. Even before the meeting began, TRS and Congress ZPTC members occupied their seats.
`Dinner diplomacy'
Ever since Mr. Rajeshwara Rao was expelled from the TRS, he has been planning to join the Congress. In the past two days, he has hosted dinner for ZPTC members of all parties. And this seems to have helped him in cornering TRS members in the meeting. Whenever TRS members criticised Mr. Rajeshwara Rao's performance, ZPTC members of all parties raised a hue and cry. At one stage, the Congress member, A. Srinivas, suggested that TRS members settle their issues within the party and refrain from disrupting the meeting. When a TRS ZPTC member alleged that Mr. Rajeshwara Rao, who contested from the Metpally Assembly segment during the recent elections, was defeated despite spending huge funds from the ZP, ZPTC members of all parties protested and forced him to into silence. The TRS MLAs -- E. Rajender, K. Lingaiah, K. Eshwar and G. Mukund Reddy -- were present but did not speak against the Chairman.
