Child labourers tonsured

By Our Staff Reporter

ELURU, OCT. 13. Two child workers, Shaik Usman (9) and Beta Tripathi (13) have been allegedly tonsured by their employer for abstaining from work.

According to the Eluru DSP, M. Ashokavardhan Reddy, the child workers, residents of One Town, have been working at a mutton shop owned by one Srinivas at Vepachettu centre for a meagre daily wage ranging from Rs. 2 to Rs. 5 for the last one year. When they did not come for a few days, the employer summoned the duo today and got their heads and even the eyebrows shaved.

The parents of the victims were also daily-wage earners. The One Town police have arrested the accused following a complaint by the parents of the children.
