HYDERABAD, OCT. 13. People should not think that the talks with naxalites will fail just because Ramakrishna has come out clearly indicating the People's War stands on issues, including a commitment to "armed struggle" as the final way out, according to the Home Minister, K. Jana Reddy. He has sought to join issue with those who are of the view that the peace initiative is doomed to end in failure.
Strategy session
Mr. Reddy was speaking to reporters after a meeting with the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, along with seven out of the eight Government representatives at which the strategy for the talks was finalised. The representatives were D. Prasada Rao, D. S. Redya Naik, K. Ranga Rao, all Ministers, Paladugu Venkat Rao, T. Purushottama Rao, K. Keshav Rao and K. Karunakar Reddy, all senior Congress leaders. Asked how the Government would solve specific problems with naxalites sticking to their known position on issues like Telangana, the Home Minister said it was a `humble attempt' not only to resolve the decades-old problem but also to redress the grievances highlighted by them. All efforts would be made to achieve this by putting aside the irritants, if any. Mr Jana Reddy did not consider the numerous petitions submitted by people to RK at the Guthikonda Bilam meeting and at the Manjeera guest house as indicative of the Government's failure to come to the rescue of people.
