Minister's assurance on synthetic tracks
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM,
OCT.13.
The work relating to the laying of an eight-lane synthetic track at the Maharaja's College ground in Kochi and the relaying of the synthetic track at the University stadium here would be taken up by the Government on a priority basis, the State Sports Minister, Dominic Presentation, has said.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, the Minister said the Government was also examining a proposal of a laying another synthetic track in Kozhikode.
The Government, he said, has already appointed a six-member committee to supervise the work at the Maharaja's College ground.
The project in Kochi was being undertaken with the assistance of the Union Government. Efforts to get Central Government assistance for relaying the track at the University stadium here was also being made by the Government. "If assistance is not available, we will be funding the whole project," he said.
