Bangalore, Poona in title clash

ANNAMALAI NAGAR, OCT. 13. Bangalore (South Zone) and Poona University (West Zone) will contest the men's final, while defending champion Nagarjuna and Calicut will contest the women's final in the all-India inter-zone inter-university badminton tournament here.

The results: semifinals: men: Bangalore beat Punjab University, Chandigarh (North Zone) 3-1 (Adip Nayak bt Gurjeet Singh 15-11, 15-13; Savan Navas bt Pawana 15-10, 15-6; Adip Nayak and Shashank Sasthri lost to Gurjeet Singh and Sachin 15-8, 11-15, 10-15; Amar bt Peeyush 15-4, 17-15).

Poona University beat Annamalai 3-1 (Aditya lost to N. Venkatesh 15-7, 3-15, 4-15; Nishad Dravid bt Sathya 15-3, 15-2; Nishad Dravid and Sameer bt N. Venkatesh and Pradeep 15-3, 15-4; P. Pranav Khot bt Yuwaraj 15-6, 8-15, 15-11).

Women: Nagarjuna beat DAV, Indore, (West Zone) 2-0 (Sri Lakshmi bt Pranchi 11-8, 11-1; Sowmiya and Ashwani Chowdry bt Pranchi and Prarinu 15-3, 15-0).

Calicut bt Osmania (South) 2-1 (Merit George lost to Saradha Govardhini 3-11, 5-11; Merit George and Susan Rajan bt Saradha Govardhini and Nivedita 12-15, 15-13, 15-8; Susan Rajan bt Cynthia 13-10, 11-4). — Our Correspondent
