Burglars make off with the silver

CHENNAI, OCT. 13. Silver articles weighing one-and-a-half kg were stolen from a house in Kasturba Nagar, Adyar, late on Tuesday night.

Police said thieves gained entry into the residence of Ms. Rukmani by removing the window grills, when the inmates were asleep.

Adyar police are investigating.

Meanwhile, a two-and-a-half-year-old girl, K. Yazhsri of Kodambakkam died after she was caught under the rear wheel of a van on Tuesday.

Police said the child, who was seated on a tricycle, descended a ramp near her house just as a van was passing by.

She was caught under the rear wheels and died on the spot.

Collision death

A 30-year-old man, B. Chandrasekar of Tiruvanmiyur, died this morning when his two-wheeler collided head on with another two-wheeler on Lattice Bridge Road, Tiruvanmiyur.

Police said the victim and his father (riding pillion) were on their way to Triplicane when the accident occurred around 9 a.m.

Rohit of Besant Nagar, the other two-wheeler rider, suffered minor injuries.

Boopathy, the victim's father, was admitted to the Government General hospital with head injuries.
