UDUPI, OCT. 13. M. Balan, Superintendent of Posts, Udupi division, said here on Wednesday that a target of Rs. 25 crores had been set for rural postal life insurance in the division for 2004-05. He told presspersons here that during 2003-04, the division had done a business of Rs. 10.18 crores in the sector. Mr. Balan said India Post had entered into agreement with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. for sale of BSNL Excel mobile-phone recharge coupons through Udupi, Manipal and Kundapur head post offices and 63 sub post offices. The face value of the coupons was Rs. 70, Rs. 150, Rs. 300, Rs. 500, Rs. 1,000, Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 3,000. The sale value will be 10.2 per cent extra on all these coupons. These coupons would be available within a week. He said India Post had signed a memorandum of understanding with Oriental Insurance Company Ltd. for marketing its non-life policies such as motor insurance, fire insurance, personal accident insurance and medi-claim insurance. In Udupi division, the marketing of these policies had already started at the Udupi Head Post Office and this would be extended to all the post offices shortly in a phased manner. The customer facilitation centre at the Udupi Head Post Office provided premium products.
