COIMBATORE, OCT 13. The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, plans to prepare an action plan to develop the infrastructure here, according to its President, A. Sakthivel. Speaking at the valedictory of the Chamber Show 2004 here recently, he said that according to a survey, about 7,500 foreigners from countries such as Japan, Belgium, Germany, Canada and the U.S. visited Coimbatore during 2003-2004 for tie-ups, collaboration, joint venture and business promotion activities in textiles, engineering, garments and jewellery. The association had represented to the State Government the need to create infrastructure facilities such as by-pass roads, circular road, scheme roads. It had also appealed to the Union Minister for Shipping and Road Transport and Highways for connecting Neelambur by-pass road to Mettupalayam through Saravanampatty, Thudiyalur and Periyanaikenpalayam. International flights to destinations such as Frankfurt, Singapore and London should be introduced from here.
