GUNTUR, OCT. 13. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, will perform the bhoomipuja for the Rs.607-crore Pulichintala Multi-Purpose Project at Madipadu on Friday morning and address a public meeting at Tenali that evening. The Minister for Cooperation, Kanna Lakshmi Narayana, after visiting Madipadu, told reporters here that adequate compensation would be paid to all holders of patta land in the area that was likely to get submerged due to the construction of the project. He said he would talk to the Chief Minister and get a reasonable package for all the affected people. The project would be completed within 30 months from the date of commencement of work, the Minister said. On completion of the project, agriculture products valued at Rs.880 crores could be produced additionally in Krishna Delta region, he pointed out. The District Congress Committee was making elaborate arrangements for the public meeting to be organised at Tenali, which would directly benefit from the construction of the project.
YSR's itinerary
This was the first major public meeting to be addressed by the Chief Minister after coming to power. Detailing the Chief Minister's itinerary on October 15, he said the helicopter would land at Madipadu at 11.15 a.m. and after the bhoomipuja, he would attend programmes in Nalgonda district till 2.30 p.m. and arrive at Tenali the same day at 3 p.m.
