VIJAYAWADA, OCT. 13. Special Vaidika programmes will be conducted at the temple during the Dasara festival. The festival will begin with `Snaapanadhishekam' of Goddess Kanakadurga on Friday morning. "Laksha kumkumarchana, Srichakra Navaavaranarchana and Chandihomam" would be performed every day during the festival. The Minister for Endowments, M. Satyanarayana Rao, will present "pattuvastrams" to the deity on Moolanakshatram and the birthday of Goddess Kanakadurga on behalf of the State Government, on the fifth day (October 19) of the festival. A Veda Sabha will be organised by the Commissioner of Endowments to felicitate over 200 Vedic pundits after they chant from the Vedas on Durgashtami (October 21). The utsava vigrahams will be taken for a boat ride on the Krishna River on Vijayadhasami, the last day of the festival as part of the Teppotsavam.
Cultural programmes
The Devasthanam authorities are arranging cultural programmes at the private book parking lot on the foot of Indrakeeladri hill for the benefit of pilgrims. The programmes, will begin at 8 a.m and will continue till night on all eight days. Devotional songs and bhakti pravachana programmes will be conducted in the mornings, burrakathas and harikathas are being organised in the afternoons
