Madurai
By Our Staff Reporter
MADURAI, OCT.14. Staff members of the Madurai district court who completed 25 years service were felicitated on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, the Madras High Court Judge, Justice P. Sathasivam, said the court officials/bench clerks also had a role to play in the deliverance of landmark judgements. "They take notes of the entire proceedings and keep the judicial officers informed of relevant facts at the appropriate time. The staff also keep vital information, including judgements, confidential till they are pronounced by the judges," he said. Referring to an appeal made by the Madurai Bar Association president, K. Vellaichamy, that experienced district court staff be elevated and posted in High Courts as court officials, Justice Sathasivam endorsed the view and said he would take up the matter with the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court. The Principal District and Sessions Judge, A.C. Arumuga Perumal Adityan, the First Additional District Judge, A. Ahamathullah, the Madurai Bar Association Secretary, A.K. Ramasamy, also spoke.
