KOCHI, OCT. 13. Patients at the Ernakulam General Hospital confronted the Medical Superintendent, K. N. Omana, on Wednesday afternoon after reports spread that she had ordered that food from a local charity should not be distributed in the hospital. Heated exchanges between angry patients and the Medical Superintendent followed after the reports spread. Dr. Omana later clarified that her order was not to distribute the free lunch in the isolation ward of the hospital as patients in the ward were suffering from diarrhoea. She wanted to take some precaution, she said. Karunyabhavan Brothers of the Holy Spirit, which is engaged in distributing free food brought the lunch for the patients. It also takes care of abandoned patients. T. D. Jensen of the Charity said that they were carrying out these works for the last 12 years.
