Around the City

Slight rise in temperature

The maximum and minimum temperatures in the city on Thursday will be around 29 degrees Celsius and 19 degrees Celsius respectively. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 29.9 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 29.8 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. The relative humidity was 63 per cent. The airport recorded a maximum temperature of 29.8 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 19.8 degrees Celsius. The recorded humidity was 54 per cent.

Autumn Splash

The Friendship Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, in collaboration with L&L Bhagwandas Sirwani Charitable Trust, has organised an "Autumn Splash", camp for differently-abled children and their siblings at the trust's premises from October 15 to 17.

The camp is to help differently-abled children develop inter personal skills.

To assist this effort, a variety of games, including trekking and rock climbing, art and music has been planned.

Nearly 60 participants from Spastics Society of Karnataka, Nireekshana, WARDS and Ashalya are expected. For information, call 9448353242.

Free health check-up

Because of the high prevalence of diabetes among Indians and because people with diabetes are 25 times more likely to lose their vision than a normal person, the Shekar Nethralaya is conducting a free diabetes and eye care screening camp on October 17 between 9 a.m. and noon at the Shekar Nethralaya Superspeciality Eye Hospital, 633, 100-foot Road, J.P. Nagar 3rd Phase.

Yoga camp

The Sri Jayachamarajendra Government Ayurvedic Hospital has arranged a month-long free yoga treatment camp for people with asthma, allergic rhinitis, common cold, diabetes, backache, high blood pressure, obesity, and stress.

The classes will be held for an hour from 9.30 a.m. Separate classes will be held for women between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Interested individuals need to register their names with yoga department of the hospital before October 18.

Fashion

The International Fashion Trends and Technology Institute is conducting free basic fashion designing course for all age groups from October 14.
