BANGALORE, OCT. 13. The K.G. Halli police on Tuesday night brought Tanvir from the Mysore Central Jail to the city. The 11th Additional City Metropolitan Magistrate, Basavaraju, had issued a warrant against him in two cases of extortion and a case of illegal possession of arms. The cases, the police said, related to extortion and kidnapping of an oil businessman, Arif. Tanvir had taken a ransom of Rs. 50,000 from the businessman, the police said. Tanvir and a few of his associates were arrested by a police team led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Shivaram, on May 8. He was wanted in 40 criminal cases.
