Rs. 156-crore relief package for Pulichintala-displaced

HYDERABAD,
OCT 13.
With only two days to go before the bhoomi puja for Pulichintala on October 15, the Government on Wednesday earmarked a sum of Rs. 156 crores for relief and resettlement of the displaced families whose lands and properties come under the project's submergence.
This was the first time that relief was specified far in advance as part of the project cost. Also, this was the highest amount ever earmarked for the purpose under any project so far in the State.
With this, the authorities concerned will be able to pay compensation against the lands and houses lost and construct townships and infrastructure facilities for the displaced families elsewhere.
Meanwhile, Medipadu in Pedakurapadu Assembly constituency of Guntur district has been selected as the site for "bhoomi puja" by the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, according to official sources.
