This Day That Age
Mr. T.T. Krishnamachari, Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, has pleaded for steps to preserve for posterity the Dhanammal tradition in music. He was unveiling a portrait of the late Veena Dhanammal at the Central College of Carnatic Music at Brodie Castle, Adyar, Madras, in the presence of a large and distinguished gathering. Mr. C. Rajagopalachari, Mr. K. Kamaraj Nadar, Chief Minister, Mr. C. Subramaniam and Mr. M. Bhakthavatsalam, Ministers, Mr. P.V. Rajamannar, Chief Justice, and Rajah Sir M.A. Muthiah Chettiar were among those present. Sangitha Kalanidhi Musiri Subramanya Aiyar welcomed the guests.
