Right atmosphere

Sir, — The surfacing of the People's War State secretary, Ramakrishna, after more than a decade is proof that the atmosphere is congenial for a dialogue.

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, deserves appreciation. Both sides must demonstrate their sincerity to work for peace.

Sir, — Given the PW leaders' proclamations in public that ending the armed struggle is out of the question, one wonders what to expect from the talks.

Sir, — When possibilities are opening up for solutions to longstanding national problems through mutual talks, there is definitely a chance that issues at the level of the States can be sorted out amicably.

The talks between PW and the Andhra Pradesh Government do give room for optimism.
