A violation?

Sir, — This refers to the report `Muslim forums pledge support to Congress' (Oct. 12). This statement by Nasir Mullah of Padgah village, a day before Maharashtra went to the polls, was reportedly endorsed by 12 leading Islamic scholars as well as the Muslim Development Council. The Union Minister, Subodh Kant Sahai, has been quick to justify the statement. Is this not a violation of the letter and spirit of the model code of conduct?
