Why this silence?

Sir, — While the U.S. Ambassador to India, David C. Mulford's direct interference in our internal matters is condemnable, more intriguing is that neither the Centre nor the U.S. has come out with statements on the Ambassador's action. The reason for this silence is anybody's guess.
