Sir, This refers to the photograph showing thousands of dead fish in Ahmedabad's Kankaria lake (Oct. 13). It is sad that such damage to the life-supporting environment was caused by the immersion of Ganesha idols made of synthetic material. This will lead to grievous ecological imbalance and environmental damage.

Sir, The picture would have disturbed any nature lover. Those polluting the environment in the name of religion have understood neither religion nor nature properly.
