Sir, — This refers to the photograph showing thousands of dead fish in Ahmedabad's Kankaria lake (Oct. 13). It is sad that such damage to the life-supporting environment was caused by the immersion of Ganesha idols made of synthetic material. This will lead to grievous ecological imbalance and environmental damage.

Sir, — The picture would have disturbed any nature lover. Those polluting the environment in the name of religion have understood neither religion nor nature properly.
