Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, OCT. 14. Pondicherry is well known for its dolls, particularly the Navarathiri Kolu dolls. Kuyavarpalayam `bommais' had been adorning the steps of the kolu in every household and one can still see families engaged in doll-making. The Pondicherry Khadi and Village Industries Board is now holding an exhibition of the dolls on its premises in Saram. Chairman of the Board P Angalane MLA inaugurated the exhibition on Wednesday. The Chairman complimented the artisans who had made the dolls, which included clay models, papier mache and terracotta designs.
