HYDERABAD, OCT. 14. The TDP has given the State Government a five-day deadline for transferring or suspending two police officers allegedly responsible for the attack on the former minister, M. Narasimhulu, in Siddipet on the Assembly bypoll, failing which it threatened to launch an agitation. Over a dozen senior party leaders, submitted a memorandum to the Home Minister, K. Jana Reddy, explaining the circumstances under which Mr. Narasimhulu, a five-time MLA and former minister, was badly injured. Mr. Narasimhulu, who was present, showed his injuries.
The allegations
The TDP leaders-- N. Janardhan Reddy and T. Seetaram -- alleged that a 200-strong mob of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi cadres surrounded the house where Mr. Narasimhulu and his friend, Narsing Rao, were having a meeting. They alleged that there was money in the house, kept for distributing to voters. However, a search conducted by the Sub-Inspector, Sankar Reddy, found nothing of that sort. Even as the former Minister was urging the SI to disperse the mob, the DSP, Ram Narayan Reddy, and the CI, Kishan Singh, and began beating him up, without any provocation, Mr. Janardhan Reddy alleged.
Probe sought
The TDP leaders, including Uma Madhava Reddy, Erraballi Dayakar, Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy, Mandava Venkateswara Rao, S. Venugopalachary and J.R. Pushparaj, urged the Home Minister to order an inquiry into the incident and transfer the DSP and CI to ensure a fair probe.
