Birsamunda in last four

NEW DELHI, OCT. 14. Sankuri Barua scored three goals as Birsamunda Vidyapith, Rourkela, drubbed Keishamthong Girls High School, Imphal, 5-0 to enter the semifinals of the 11th NDMC-Nehru junior girls (under-17) hockey tournament at the Shivaji Stadium here on Thursday.

Sarita Hanuman scored the other two goals for Birsamunda that now meets SGNP Girls School, Shahabad for a place in the final.

SGNP also recorded a 5-0 victory over Kreeda Prabodhini Shiv Chattarpati, Pune. Harjinder Kaur (two), Ritu Rani, Aarti Sharma and Harpreet Kaur were the scorers.

The other semifinal on Friday will be between Govt. Girls High School, Ranchi, and Govt. School, Amritsar.

The Ranchi girls defeated St. Mary's Girls School, Sundergarh, 6-1. Tarini Kumari, Lourencia Kerketta, Shikha Sefali Tete, Reshma Minzur, Anima Soreng and Manisha Khes contributed to the tally. Ashrita Kujur scored the lone goal for the losing team.

Govt. School, Amritsar, blanked Govt. Bhoj Girls School, Dhar, 3-0. Kirandeep Kaur, Kulvinder Kaur and Sarbjit Kaur. — Our Special Correspondent
