NEW DELHI, OCT. 14. Two persons allegedly engaged in smuggling of opium were arrested from Mukarba Chowk in North-West Delhi by the Narcotics and Crime Branch of the Delhi police on October 11. The police claim to have recovered 80 kg of opium from their possession and impounded a Tata Sumo in which they were travelling. According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Narcotics Branch), D.L. Kashyap, the department received a tip-off that some drug peddlers operating between Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab, would pass from Mukarba Chowk in a Tata Sumo while going towards GT Karnal Road. Subsequently, a trap was laid and the vehicle intercepted. Two of the occupants were detained for questioning. The police recovered six plastic container carrying opium from the Sumo. They identified themselves as Bhairo Lal and Satya Narain, residents of Chittorgarh in Rajasthan.
