NEW DELHI, OCT. 14. Due to lack of expertise and manpower, the Delhi police are planning to seek the help of the National Security Guards (NSG) or the Army to sift through the scrap containers lying at the Inland Container Depot (ICD) here in Tughlakabad. A few days ago, the ICD authorities had informed the police about 46 scrap containers imported from Lucky Metals and Kentz General of Kuwait and Indica Global Limited of Dubai. However, the police are finding the task difficult and are planning to contact the NSG or the Army to provide bomb detection and disposal squads to sift through the scrap. About two months ago, the ICD authorities had sought police help in scanning a container carrying scrap imported from Somalia. However, they did not undertake the job then. It was only after the Ghaziabad explosion last month and the subsequent recovery of live shells from different parts of western Uttar Pradesh that they contacted the NSG and got the container examined. During the search, as many as 45 live explosives and 23 dead ones were recovered from the container.
