BANGALORE, OCT. 14. Even as the Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, was holding talks with a delegation of exhibitors, led by the Hubli-based Karnataka Chalanachitra Mahamandala, over 40 cinemas observed a bandh here on Thursday. The cinemas downed their shutters in protest against the continuation of the seven-week moratorium on the release of new non-Kannada films. Meanwhile, the delegation of exhibitors is said to have told the Chief Minster that it would abide by the norm (seven-week moratorium) with the hope that the Government would solve the row soon. Sources said that Mr. Dharam Singh told the delegation that the Government would look into the issues keeping the exhibitors' interest also in mind. He asked the delegation not to defy the moratorium by releasing the Telugu film, Shankar Dada MBBS, in Bellary or in other districts on Friday as the Pandey Committee was scheduled to meet on Monday, the sources said.
