BANGALORE, OCT. 14. The K.G. Halli Police on Thursday produced Tanvir Ahmed before the 11th Additional City Metropolitan Magistrate here. The case in which Tanvir Ahmed was produced before the magistrate, the police said, related to extortion and kidnapping of an oil businessman, Arif. Tanvir Ahmed and his gang had demanded Rs. 50,000 from the businessman, the police said. The police had chargesheeted Tanvir Ahmed in three cases of extortion and a case of illegal possession of lethal weapons. The police had brought Tanvir Ahmed from Belgaum Central Jail on Tuesday after the magistrate had issued a warrant.
Arrested
The HAL Police on Wednesday arrested four persons allegedly involved in burglaries and recovered Rs. 2,000 in cash and four jeans trousers from them. The police gave the names of the arrested persons as Ramu Bahadur (21), Rakesh Bhol (24), Maniraj Rai (23), all residents of Neelasandra Church Road, and Deepak Chatri (23) of Mahadevapura. The accused, the police said, were involved in 17 burglaries reported from Madiwala, Koramangala, Ulsoor, Indiranagar and Frazer Town police station limits.
Theft
A laptop, a video camera and other electronic equipment in all valued at Rs. 1 lakh were stolen from a house of three Uttar Pradesh-based software engineers in Jeevan Bima Nagar Police Station limits on Wednesday. The police said Nikhil Raj (28), Rahul (27), and Abhinav (28) had locked their house and had gone to their offices. When they returned in the evening they found the articles missing. The police suspected that the culprits might have used a duplicate key to enter the house.
Stolen
A laptop and a car stereo belonging to Kiran, a loan consultant, were stolen from his car in the Basaveshwar Nagar Police Station limits on Thursday. The police said Kiran had left the articles in his car which was parked near his house.
Robbed
Vijayamma of Bhomika Layout was relieved of Gold ornaments valued at Rs. 17,000 in the Peenya Police Station limits on Thursday. The police said the culprit approached Vijayamma as a boot polisher, blindfolded her and fled with the ornaments. Renuka Devi, a housewife, was robbed of her gold chain valued at Rs. 15,000 by a motorcyclist near Jayanagar 4th Block Bus Stand on Thursday. The Tilak Nagar Police have registered a case.
Body found
The Ulsoor Police on Wednesday found the body of a 70-year-old woman on Gangadharchetty Road. The body is kept in the mortuary of the Bowring and Lady Curson Hospital.
