Around the City

Generally cloudy sky; rain likely

The city recorded a maximum temperature of 28.4 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 21.1 degrees Celsius on Thursday. It received 4.4 mm of rainfall. The relative humidity was 84 per cent.

At the airport, the maximum temperature was 28.2 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 20.4 degrees Celsius. The rainfall recorded was 32.8 mm. The relative humidity was 88 per cent.

The forecast for Friday is: the sky will be generally cloudy with one or two spells of rain/thundershowers likely in the evening/night. The maximum temperature will be 28 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature 20 degrees Celsius.

Passport office

The Regional Passport Office, Bangalore, will function on Saturday. Application submission counters, inquiry and tatkal services will be available at the office from 9.30 a.m. till noon. However, counters for online applicants and travel agents will not be open, according to a press release.

The Karnataka Welfare Association for the Blind with help from Vinivinc Foundation has resumed the functioning of Braille Library and Information Centre. Lectures

Indian Institute of Banking and Finance, Bangalore Sub-Centre, will organise lectures on "Reconstruction of India and Challenges of Globalisation for the financial sector" at the Visvesvaraya Auditorium of State Bank of Mysore in K.G. Road at 6 p.m. on Friday. The President of Ramakrishna Math, Harshanandaji, and the Executive Director of Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai, Usha Thorat, will deliver the lectures.
