Turtle survives fall, dents car

HONG KONG, OCT. 15. Turtles are considered a symbol of good luck and a sign of longevity in Hong Kong, but try telling that to the taxi driver whose car was hit and damaged by a big one that plummeted from a high-rise building.

The pet turtle climbed through an apartment window and fell more than 10 storeys onto the taxi's roof, which was dented. The turtle, a foot long, was splashed with blood and its shell was broken, but it somehow survived.

The driver said Thursday was a particularly unlucky day for him. His mobile phone was stolen by a passenger, and then his car was struck by the turtle.

Relatives of the turtle's owner said he would release it into the wild.
