PONDICHERRY, OCT. 15. Activists of Pondicherry unit of all India Progressive Women`s Association and also functionaries of the Pondicherry unit of the all India Coordination Committee of the Trade Unions were arrested when they attempted to stage a dharna at the Maternity hospital here today seeking suspension of the doctor who had `negligently' treated a woman patient a few months ago causing unbearable pain in the post-operation period. The woman from Tindivanam had underwent tubectomy operation after delivery and a piece of bandage cloth left behind in her stomach caused her unbearable pain necessitating treatment in a private hospital at Chennai.
