PONDICHERRY, OCT. 15. Commodore Uday Chitnavis, Commander of the Coast Guard Region (East) Chennai, today called on Chief Minister N. Rangasamy here today discussed the establishment of a coast guard station in Pondicherry. The nearly eight-hectare site identified at Veerampattinam in Ariankuppam panchayat is likely to house the station, which will offer facilities for fishermen and search and rescue operations. The commodore said that patrolling would be one of the key functions of the coast guard station.
