Tariq Anwar told to surrender
By K. Balchand
PATNA,
OCT. 15.
The Katihar District and Sessions Judge today rejected the anticipatory bail petition of the Nationalist Congress Party MP, Tariq Anwar, and directed him to surrender before a lower court in connection with the case relating to violation of the moral code of conduct during the 1999 Lok Sabha elections.
The District Judge, Virendra Singh, however, did not set any deadline for his surrender in the case relating to pasting posters and putting up party flags on telephone and electric poles and railway over bridges.
Similar cases were filed against four other contestants, Nikhil Chaudhary (BJP), Mubarak Hussain (Congress), Madan Mohan Nishad (BSP) and Ram Prakash Mahto (Independent).
The court of K.K. Agrawal had declared all the five candidates absconders in its order on June 19, 2003.
