NELLORE, OCT.15. Doctors at the Bollineni Superspeciality Hospital here have performed a modern procedure for closure of a hole in the heart of a child. A child, Pravallika (7) from Atmakur, was admitted to the hospital on October 8 and was examined by the chief cardiologist, C.S. Srinivasa Raju. It was diagnosed as `ductus arteriosus', usually requiring surgical closure by opening the chest cavity and ligating the duct. However, the chief cardiologist adopted a modern procedure known as `coiled closure' on October 11 and treated the patient without surgery which was done within an hour. The Medial Director of the Hospital, M. Yanadi Naidu, complimented Dr. Raju, the cardiologist, K. Ravinder Reddy, and the anesthesiologist, K. Syam Kumar.
