DDA draw for flats

NEW DELHI OCT.15. The Delhi Development Authority today held a computerised draw for allotment of 2004 Lower Income Group (LIG) and 3, 551 Janata flats at its headquarters in Vikas Sadan here. The draw was held in the presence of judges who were not DDA employees.

According to a DDA release, while the LIG flats were allotted under NPRS-79 Scheme and Ambedkar Awas Yojana, the Janata flats were allotted under the Janata Housing Registration Scheme. All allotments were made as per the priority list of registration maintained under the schemes and the draw was held for allotment of specific flats to the registrants.

The demand-cum-allotment letters would be issued in due course. The result of the draw have been displayed at the Reception Counter in D-Block of Vikas Sadan and is also available at the DDA website www@ddadelhi.com.

Vidya Bhavan seminar

NEW DELHI OCT. 15. "All organisations need to be HR organisations that carefully select, retain and motivate their employees to higher levels of performance and productivity." So said Ravi Bhoothalingam, CEO of Manas Advisory and former Director of ITC and British Tobacco, at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Management Seminar here this past week-end.

Organised under the auspices of the Bhavan's MBA Department, the seminar was also addressed by Sunil Radhakrishna, Executive Director of DSCL Ltd.

The Principal of S.P. College of Communications and Management, N. N. Pillai, welcomed the speakers. Mr. Sunil Radhakrishna in his lecture dwelt on the idea that organisations need to consciously prepare themselves and their managers and employees for a change.

Hospital expansion

NEW DELHI OCT.15. The Max Hospital in Pitampura -- part of Max Healthcare's premier facility -- will be expanding to 100 beds this month. Commissioned in 2002, the hospital is adding five additional floors and launching several new services.

The Chief Administrator, S.C. Marwah, said: "We have firmly established ourselves as a centre of medical excellence in the precincts of North Delhi and we cater to patients from neighbouring States as well. The expansion is in keeping with our efforts to serve an increasing patient base."

The hospital has recently acquired a new state of the art Holmium YAG Laser for urological and other procedures. In addition to the treatment of kidney stones, the Holmium laser can be used to treat prostrate enlargement and bladder tumours.

Italian honour for Indians

NEW DELHI OCT. 15. The Government of Italy has selected the former civil servant, Gautam Kaul, along with four other Indians for the prestigious "Star of Italian Co-operation" medal. The medal presentation ceremony will take place at the Italian Cultural Centre here in New Delhi on October 18. Mr. Kaul is the secretary of the Delhi Symphony Society and has in the past presented work of Italian composers.

Debating competition

NEW DELHI OCT. 15. The Delhi Public School (DPS) in Rohini hosted the first National Inter-DPS Chairman's Debate on Friday under the aegis of DPS Society. Eight finalists of DPS from all over the country participated in the debate. The topic of the debate in the final round was `There is, in this age, a dearth of heroes'. The chief guest on the occasion was the Chairman of DPS society, Narendra Kumar.

Saumya Gupta of DPS in Bhopal and Shubhrastha of DPS in Bokaro won the best speakers awards. The team from Bhopal was adjudged the best and DPS's Rohini branch won the runners up prize.
