Southern Railway, Chennai, pulled off a stunning 25-23, 25-21, 21-25, 11-25, 15-8 victory over star-studded Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Dehradun, in the preliminary phase of the National League championship for men here on Thursday. ICF, Chennai, defeated Muthoot Group of Kerala 25-23, 21-25, 25-23, 25-21 and AG, Himachal Pradesh, downed Mayor's Club, Hyderabad, 20-25, 28-26, 28-26, 19-25, 15-13 in other two men's matches. In the women's section, KR Haryana prevailed over GKM, Chennai 19-25, 26-24, 20-25, 25-20, 16-14 and NSS, Thiruvananthapuram, beat SAI, Dharmashala, 27-25, 25-19, 26-24. On Wednesday, Southern Railway defeated AG, Himachal, 16-25, 25-20, 25-9, 25-14. HSIDC, Haryana, beat Muthoot Group 25-13, 25-16, 25-8.
