DEHRA DUN, OCT. 15. Thirty persons, nine of them women and one child, most of them pilgrims from Chhattisgarh, were killed when the bus they were travelling in from Hardwar to Yamunotri fell into a deep gorge near Sani Chatti beyond Barkot in Uttarkashi district this morning, according to the State Disaster Mitigation and Management Centre. Three men, two women and a child were rescued by the locals and the police and have been admitted to Naogaon Primary Health Centre. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Barkot and senior police officers are camping at the scene of the mishap and efforts are being made to inform the relatives of the deceased, it was told. The private bus belonging to a travel agency of Hardwar had 27 pilgrims from Chhattisgarh. The conductor and driver seem to have taken in seven more passengers on the way.
