KARIMNAGAR, OCT. 15. The Bharatiya Janata Party district unit has flayed the Congress and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi for making charges against each other in spite of forging an alliance. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, the BJP district president, P Sugunakar Rao, flayed the Congress and TRS for making a mockery of democracy in the district with the latest developments in the Zilla Parishad. He reiterated that the Congress-TRS forged an alliance only for political mileage and they have no concern for statehood to Telangana.
`People deceived'
He alleged that the Congress had again deceived the people of Telangana by forging an alliance with the TRS before the elections and later breaking the ties after attaining power. Referring the latest incidents of the TRS leaders joining the Congress, he charged that the Congress was planning to repeat 1972 of diluting the cause of Telangana by merging the Telangana Praja Samithi (TPS) with the party. He flayed the TRS president, K Chandrashekhar Rao, and the senior Congress leader, G Venkataswamy, who represent Karimnagar and Peddapalli Parliament constituencies, respectively, for neglecting core issues in the district. He charged that they were busy making allegations against each other. He alleged that the district Minsters, M Satyanarayana Rao and V Lakshmikantha Rao, were not showing any concern for the development of the district.
MPEOs' issue
The BJP demanded the Government to regularise the services of about 7,800 multipurpose extension officers (MPEOs), whose contract period was completed on September 30 in the State. He demanded the Chief Minister, Y.S Rajashekhara Reddy, to fulfil his promise of regularisation of the services of MPEOs during his `Palle bata' programme. Expressing concern over the poor drought relief operations in the district, he demanded the district administration to prepare an action plan to tackle the drought situation. The BJP leaders, M Venkateshwar Reddy, T Harikumar Goud, B Jaganmohan Rao, Md Arif and others were present.
