NEW DELHI, OCT. 15. One person has been arrested by the North-West Delhi police for allegedly killing a 35-year-old woman in her house at Jahangirpuri in North-West Delhi on September 22. According to the police, the body of Sumita, a resident of Jahangirpuri, was found in her rented accommodation in the morning. Her 10-year-old son, Suberto Samanto, was also found lying unconscious in the house. He was taken to hospital. After he regained his consciousness, he told the police that his stepfather, Veerpal alias Mejo, and his brother Surender, had beaten his mother to death. Following investigations, the police managed to arrest Suresh when he was about to return to his native village in Uttar Pradesh from the Capital last night. Interrogation revealed that Sumita had left her first husband and had begun living with Veerpal in the rented accommodation. However, in Veerpal's native village, the deceased developed illicit relationship with another person. Veerpal and Suresh became angry with Sumita and hence decided to kill her and Suberto. As per plan, they killed Sumita on the night of September 21. They also tried to strangle Suberto and left the place thinking that he was dead. Further investigations are now on to trace Veerpal, who is still absconding.
