Mainly clear sky forecast
On Friday, Safdarjung recorded a maximum temperature of 29.4 and a minimum temperature of 16.8 degree Celsius respectively, while Palam recorded a maximum temperature of 28.4 and minimum temperature of 16.9 degree Celsius respectively. The maximum relative humidity at Safdarjung stood at 92 per cent and the minimum 37 per cent. Palam recorded a maximum humidity of 92 per cent and a minimum of 40 per cent.
Two run over by train
According to the police, Renu wife of Vijay Jha, a resident of gali No. 3 in Rampura, had left her home along with her niece, Dolly, and sons, Sachin (3) and one-year-old Saurav, to go to a temple around 11 a.m. When Renu reached the level crossing, which is near her house, she found that it had been closed. However, instead of waiting for the train to pass, she tried to cross the track and was run over by an EMU Express from Shakur Basti to Dhankod. Renu and Dolly were killed on the spot while Sachin and Saurav were admitted to Maharaja Agrasen Hospital with serious injuries. Keshavpuram police have registered a case and are investigating further.
Ivory seized, one held
According to the police, the accused, Lokesh Kumar, a resident of Central Delhi, was arrested near Jagat Cinema in Central Delhi on October 13. Ivory tusk weighing 5.6 kg, Rs. 1.75 lakhs in cash and a country-made revolver were recovered from his possession. A case under the Wildlife Protection Act and Arms Act has been registered and further investigations are on.
Body found
The body with stab wounds in the neck was identified as that of Bajor, 55. A resident of Rajasthan, Bajor was staying alone in the house owned by Gautam Mitra. The police said, Mr. Mitra is staying in Kolkata. A case of murder has been registered at the Chittaranjan Park police station.
Medical meet
Viktorija McDonnell, an expert on auditory verbal therapy technique from Australia, provided training to about 150 speech professionals and parents of hearing impaired children on the first day of the workshop today. The workshop will help audiologists, teachers of the deaf, speech therapists and parents to learn various methods of training hearing impaired children
