Homage paid to Shyama Sastri

THANJAVUR,
OCT. 16.
Musicians paid homage to Shyama Sastri, one among the musical trinities, at a Sangeethanjali organised in connection with navarathri festival at Bangaru Kamakshi Amman temple here today.
The musicians rendered kritis of Shyama Sastri and sang songs in praise of the goddess.
S.V. Sanatanaraman, Sri Karyam to Sankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, inaugurated the festival. He said Shyama Sastri was a devotee of Bangaru Kamakshi Amman.
B. Anantaraman, assistant secretary, Thirupuunthuruthi Narayana Theertha Swamigal Aradhana committee said Shyama Sastri sang in praise of the goddess on Her request
It is appropriate to pay homage to Shyama Sastri during Navarathiri, singing his kritis in praise of the goddess.
Amujam Vethantham lighted a kuthuvilakku to mark the inauguration of the festival.
S. Gunaseelan, businessman, and S. Rajappa, executive officer of the temple, were present.
