SP-RLD victorious in Uttar Pradesh

LUCKNOW, OCT. 16. The Samajwadi Party-Rashtriya Lok Dal ruling coalition today posted an impressive victory in the Uttar Pradesh by-elections, winning eight of the eleven seats where counting was taken up today. Its archrival the Bahujan Samaj Party bagged two seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party one seat. However, the Congress failed to retain its two seats. The Samajwadi Party wrested the Siddhaur and Saidpur seats from the BSP and the Ghaziabad and Mujhena seats from the Congress and BJP respectively.
