THRISSUR, OCT. 16. The Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, will inaugurate the 29th national symposium of the heads of police training institutions, at the Kerala Police Academy here on October 18. The three-day programme is being organised by the Bureau of Police Research and Development, and the Kerala Police. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, the Additional Director General of Police, Jacob Punnoose, said that about 60 senior police officers, including the director of the National Police Academy, director of National Crime Record Bureau, directors of State Police Academies and several specialists in police training will attend the programme. The symposium will focus on ways to combat terrorism, crime and use of new technology, and standarisation of police training. The Chief Minister will also take the salute at the passing-out parade of the 24th batch of 182 sub inspector (general executive) cadets and four APSI cadets, on October 18.
