Supply of nutrient-rich food through PDS planned

HYDERABAD,
OCT. 16.
The Civil Supplies Minister, G. Vijayarama Rao, has asked officials to prepare an action plan for supply of nutrient rich food, particularly to women and children, through the public distribution system.
Participating in the World Food Day celebrations here on Saturday, Dr. Rao hoped that the Civil Supplies and Medical and Health departments could coordinate to supply nutrient rich food through the PDS.
Since the staff of medical and health regularly visit villages, they should be involved in the programme, he felt. Dr. Rao deplored the awareness levels of rural masses about the calorie strength in different varieties of food.
