HYDERABAD, OCT. 16. The Union Minister of State for Rural Development, A. Narendra, has said that the countdown for the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government to implement its promise of conceding Statehood for Telangana after Maharashtra Assembly elections will begin next month. The TRS would wait till the month-end for the formation of a Government in Maharashtra before stepping up its campaign, Mr. Narendra told reporters here on Saturday. The Union Minister minced no words in asserting that TRS Ministers would resign if the Congress did not concede Statehood for Telangana as promised by the party after the Maharashtra polls. It would amount to `selfish' politics of the Congress if it did not keep its promise. Mr. Narendra predicted that the Pulichintala project would not take off. It would be confined to the foundation stone. The TRS would support the Communist Party of India (Maoist) stand opposing the project. He asked the Government to complete all the pending projects in Telangana before executing Pulichintala.
