Joshi spoils Advani's party

BANGALORE, OCT. 16. Devendra Joshi of host BPCL spoiled Pankaj Advani's double delight at the end of the inaugural PSPB all-India inter-unit billiards and snooker tournament.

At the KSBA hall here on Saturday, Devendra Joshi played some flawless top of the table game to wrest the billiards title with a 1204-905 victory but in the afternoon session Pankaj of ONGC bounced back to claim the snooker honours with an authoritative 5-2 win over national champion and fellow ONGC teammate Alok Kumar. Pankaj won 23-77, 67-9, 82-32, 113-21, 35-64, 56-28, 77-1.

The results:

Billiards (final): Devendra Joshi (BPCL) bt Pankaj Advani 1204-905. Third place: Alok Kumar (ONGC) bt Sourav Kothari (ONGC) 275-253.

Snooker (final): Pankaj Advani (ONGC) bt Alok Kumar (ONGC) 23-77, 67-9, 82-32, 113-21, 35-64, 56-28, 77-1.

Third place: Devendra Joshi (BPCL) bt Manan Chandra (BPCL) 103-4, 91-1, 7-59, 20-103, 62-61.

Veterans snooker final: B.C. Dutta bt N.K. Das 41-55, 44-40, 35-18. Third place: P.R. Bose bt T.C. Dass 45-19. — Our Sports Reporter
