HYDERABAD, OCT. 16. Newly-crowned World champion S.Appoorwa was felicitated at an impressive function by her employers Life Insurance Corporation in coordination with Hyderabad Carrom Association at Fateh Maidan Committee Hall here today. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. T. Chatopadhyaya, Zonal Manager, LIC, lauded the achievements of two of their employees, Appoorwa and P. Nirmala, who finished third runner-up for the third time in-a-row. A shawl and a memento each were presented to the Appoorwa, Nirmala and Suvarna. Ms Sumita Dawra, VC & MD of SAAP, who was the guest of honour, also hailed the achievements of the Hyderabad-based carrom players. Mr. B.K. Haranath, president of HCA, appealed to the LIC authorities to recruit Suvarna into the organisation.
