BANGALORE, OCT. 16. The Tilaknagar police have arrested five persons in connection with the murder of Arogyadas (33) near a hotel on Tilaknagar main road on October 11. The arrested have been identified as D. Solomon (25) of Urs Colony, J. John (24) and Ravi (25) of Tilaknagar, Raja alias Rajesh (26) and S. Deena alias Deen Dayal (25). The victim, a resident of S.R. Krishnappa Garden, was murdered allegedly over an old rivalry.
Held
The Commercial Street police arrested Syed Saleem (21) of Shivajinagar Broadway Road and Afroze Ahmed (22) of Thimmaiah Road and seized Rs. 1,100 in cash and a knife. The two had allegedly waylaid two persons, Ganesh and Ramesh, on Kamaraj road on Thursday and robbed them at knife-point.
Knocked down
An unidentified 65-year-old man died on the spot after he was knocked down by a Sports Utility Vehicle on Sarjapur Road in the Adugodi traffic police station limits on Friday. The victim was crossing the road when the accident took place. His body has been shifted to Victoria hospital.
Recovered
The Hennur police arrested Hussein Basha (30) of Dayanandanagar, Jayanagar 1st block and Ayub Khan (23), a resident of Siddharthanagar, and recovered six computers, nine mobile phones, a car, a television set, gold and diamond jewellery, all estimated at about Rs. 5 lakhs. The articles were allegedly stolen from houses and showrooms in the Ramamurthynagar, Viveknagar, J.P. Nagar, Wilson Garden and Madiwala police station limits.
Arrested
The City Crime Branch police arrested Prakash (25), Murali (35) and Srinivasa (42) on charges of gambling with lottery tickets at a lottery shop on Siddhaiah road in the Wilson Garden police station limits on Friday. The police seized Rs. 11,435 in cash, a telephone, a television set, two mobile phones and other articles, all valued at about Rs. 25,000.
