VISAKHAPATNAM, OCT. 16. Another case of gullible youth getting cheated with promises of overseas jobs came to light with some of the victims lodging a police a complaint on Saturday. According to the Fifth Town Police, two youngsters, Anil Krishna and Sher Khan, floated SKAK Placement Services and gave advertisements in the local newspapers seeking applications for technical and non-technical posts in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Oman, Muscat and Algeria in August. After collecting amounts ranging from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 50,000 from about 150 candidates, the duo vanished quietly sometime ago. When the candidates came to know that the placement agency had downed its shutters, they immediately alerted the police.
Interview too!
One of the victims said the placement firm selected them after a preliminary interview at Sheilanagar. Later they were taken to the office of Stickgel Engineering Construction Ltd. in Chennai for a final interview. The duo collected up to Rs. 50,000 from the aspirants for securing passports, visa and air ticket. After frequent visits to the office of the placement agency, some of the candidates even threatened to lodge a police complaint if they were not offered jobs. Meanwhile, a senior official said job aspirants should crosscheck credentials of the placement organisations before they approached them for jobs.
